Portugal 2000 - The Presidency of the European Union
Students of Graphic Arts, Fine Arts and Design throughout the country were invited to create the logo for the Portuguese Presidency of the European Union which was to appeal to the imagination.
The idea was that the logo should reflect, in its essential elements, the symbolism of the European Union and its Member States, integrate a symbol or the national colours of Portugal and also emphasise this as the first presidency of the millennium.
At that time, 1998, I was in my last year of college at ESAD – Escola Superior de Artes e Design.
A horizontal, wavy green line with fifteen short lines above in red representing the union of the 15 Member States.
